About this lesson

Emotional intelligence (EI) is the ability to notice emotions, understand what they mean, and use that awareness to guide behavior. In this lesson, you will learn the core components of EI, why it matters in daily life and leadership, and how it differs from being simply “nice” or “sensitive.”

You will also see how emotional intelligence improves decision-making, communication, and relationships at work and at home. This lesson focuses on the big-picture concepts that set up the practical skills you will build in later lessons.
