About this lesson

This lesson orients learners to the CompTIA Linux+ XK0-005 exam and establishes the baseline Linux knowledge needed for the rest of the course. Students will see how the exam is organized, what kinds of tasks are tested, and how Linux systems are structured at a practical level.

The lesson also introduces core operational concepts including distributions, shells, the filesystem hierarchy, permissions, processes, packages, services, and basic networking. The goal is not deep command mastery yet, but a clean mental model that makes later administration, troubleshooting, security, and automation lessons easier to absorb.
