About this lesson

Teenagers are not more gullible than adults, but they are operating in a digital environment that makes misinformation harder to spot. Their feeds are fast, personalized, social, and often emotionally charged. In this lesson, parents learn why teens are especially exposed to misleading content so they can guide them with empathy instead of blame.

We focus on the conditions that increase vulnerability: constant notifications, pressure to keep up, strong peer influence, platform algorithms, and the habit of skimming instead of slowing down. The goal is to help parents understand the environment their teens are navigating before teaching specific verification skills later in the course.
