About this lesson

This opening lesson defines Christianity as a historic, global faith centered on Jesus Christ. It introduces the basic Christian claim that God has acted in history through Jesus’ life, death, and resurrection, and that Christian faith is a response of trust, worship, and discipleship.

The lesson also gives students a framework for the rest of the course: Christianity is not only a set of ideas, but a living tradition shaped by Scripture, worship, community, ethics, history, and hope. Later lessons will examine each of those areas in greater depth.
