About this lesson

In this lesson, students learn how Japanese sounds are organized, how rhythm works, and how to start using a few polite everyday expressions with confidence. The focus is not memorizing long vocabulary lists, but building habits that make later speaking and listening easier.

Students practice the five vowel sounds, basic consonant-vowel patterns, long vowels, double consonants, the Japanese r sound, and simple pitch awareness. The lesson ends with polite basics such as こんにちは, ありがとうございます, and すみません, with attention to when each expression fits.
