About this lesson

This lesson connects QuickBooks Online to the small business bookkeeping cycle: set up the company file, capture transactions, categorize activity, reconcile accounts, review reports, and close the period. The goal is to understand what QuickBooks Online is doing behind the scenes so you can use it with judgment instead of treating it as an automatic black box.

You will learn the major bookkeeping workflows that repeat each month, the role of source documents and bank feeds, and the difference between recording, reviewing, and reporting. Later lessons will go deeper into setup choices, banking rules, invoices, bills, payroll, sales tax, reconciliations, and financial statements.
