Why Reference Checks Still Matter
Reference checks remain useful because they add work-context evidence that resumes, interviews, assessments, and background screens cannot fully provide. When done well, they help hiring teams understand how a candidate actually worked with managers, peers, customers, pressure, ambiguity, feedback, and accountability.
