Introduction to Special Education

Special education is a system of supports designed to help learners access, participate in, and make progress in school. This lesson introduces the core purpose of special education, the difference between disability and educational need, and the role of early identification and informed support.

Students will learn how special education fits within inclusive schooling, why individualized planning matters, and how educators collaborate to reduce barriers without lowering expectations.
