About this lesson

This opening lesson introduces the course, explains how it is organized, and sets a practical standard for learning about common health conditions. You will learn how to use plain-language health information, what health literacy means, and how to tell the difference between everyday guidance, urgent warning signs, and situations that need a clinician's advice.

The goal is not to diagnose yourself. The goal is to become more confident, better informed, and more effective when reading health information, tracking symptoms, asking questions, and deciding when to seek help. This foundation will support every later lesson in the course.
