About this lesson

This lesson defines the core job of nonprofit writing: move a mission from idea to action. Learners will examine the three outcomes nonprofit messages must achieve—build trust, clarify impact, and motivate support—and learn why each audience needs a different emphasis.

The lesson also introduces the practical constraints that shape nonprofit writing, including limited attention, mixed audiences, and the need to balance heart with proof. By the end, learners should be able to judge whether a message is clear, credible, and action-oriented before they start drafting.
