The ADA Workplace Framework
This lesson introduces the workplace framework of the Americans with Disabilities Act, with emphasis on Title I employment obligations. Learners will understand who is covered, what the ADA protects, and how core concepts such as disability, qualified individual, essential functions, reasonable accommodation, undue hardship, confidentiality, and retaliation fit together.
The lesson is designed as a practical map for managers, HR teams, and workplace leaders. It does not yet go deeply into accommodation documentation, leave, performance management, or complex medical inquiry issues; those topics belong in later lessons. The goal here is to build a clear foundation for recognizing ADA issues early and responding through a consistent compliance mindset.
