About this lesson

Self-reflection is the disciplined practice of looking at your inner life and your patterns with honesty. It is not the same as overthinking, self-criticism, or vague introspection. In this lesson, Professor Nathan Ward introduces self-reflection as a practical tool for noticing thoughts, emotions, choices, and habits so you can understand what is driving your behavior.

You will learn the difference between reflection and rumination, why reflection matters for growth, and what a healthy reflective mindset looks like. By the end, you should be able to recognize self-reflection as a repeatable skill: one that helps you make better decisions, respond more intentionally, and build a grounded life without becoming stuck in your own head.
