About this lesson

In this opening lesson, Professor David Grant introduces the course and establishes what values are: the principles and priorities that shape the choices we make at work and in life. You will learn how values differ from beliefs, why they matter, and how they influence everyday decisions, relationships, and professional judgment.

This lesson does not try to identify your personal value system in depth yet. Instead, it gives you a clear foundation for the rest of the course by defining key terms, showing how values operate, and helping you notice where your choices may already reflect hidden priorities.
